As I Am – Meet Emily, business woman, CrossFitter, & mom of 4 boys!
What’s your story? Tell me 5 things people might not know about you.
The most impactful part of my story is that I am a widow. My husband of 20 years died in my arms on September 1, 2021. It was completely unexpected and I have had to pick up the pieces of my life without him in the last two and a half years.
My boys and I have survived and are moving into thriving. Life is sweet and only getting sweeter. Some things people might not know about me – I have a big personality, but I am very serious about my career. I am an (Low level) executive at an auto finance company, and have a masters in business. I love musical theater and was in many shows when I was younger. I am still very obsessed with musicals and Broadway. I love to work in Excel and am really good at writing formulas to work smarter, not harder. I also love to serve other people when I can make time in my schedule.
What activities do you enjoy? Favorite band? Places you like to visit?
This is where I am excited to find myself. I don’t know! I want to try everything as I embark in this new chapter in my life. I want to go to concerts I have never seen before, eat food I haven’t tried, go places I have never seen to find out what I like, beyond the things that I loved while I was married. This is one of those things that I am excited to do, just for myself.
Why is this photoshoot/portraits important to you? Is it a special occasion?
This is to celebrate my 43rd birthday. My third as a widow and single mom. This is to celebrate two years of consistently working my body in new ways at CrossFit OYL. I am happier in my own skin than I have ever been in my life and I don’t want that to go without being documented!
What is it about our work that caught your attention? Is there anything that stands out to you?
It’s so beautiful! I can’t wait to be a part of it. I want you to capture what you see in me – just as I am.
Describe your vision for your session and what you are hoping to have captured:
I love the RAW photos. I think that is a perfect celebration of what I am trying to capture. One shot in particular I would like to get is my back – i am so proud of the muscle development there. Other than that, I am just so excited to put myself in your capable hands!

I love working out with you – I love your spirit and the photos you post are stunning. I want to be captured like that.
