After relocating to North Fort Worth, Texas in 2023 following her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Heather began the exciting journey of creating something truly special. After months of thoughtful planning and construction, her dream has come to life – a private, luxury photography studio built right on their property in Rhome, TX.
This is Heather’s 8th photography space, so after all those moves (not to mention start overs) she knew exactly what was needed in her permanent space. Looking at commercial spaces in the area, nothing came close to what she was searching for, plus the cost of renting business space in DFW, is quite expensive! We are talking thousands of dollars a month, for the same square footage built. Not to mentioned, she wanted on-site outdoor spaces to photograph in as well.
Pouring all of her heart & soul (+earnings/savings) into this space, has had its ups & downs – but dreaming of what she can create for her community, it absolutely worth it. Phase one is filled with airy vibes, a snack bar/drinks/microwave, heat & air conditioning (a must in Texas), a free standing working tub (hello milk baths & boudoir) plus restroom, large client wardrobe closet, & rotating backdrop/sets.
The doors are now open, and the space is welcoming clients for an unforgettable portrait experience!
Phase two has begun in the outdoor gardens, and as time progresses, plans for phase three (finished ceiling) will begin. Stay tuned for updated photos here or (or check out daily/weekly progress on IG.)
The Mediterranean Patio Garden (shades of purple & sage) is already 40′ long & ready to grow, grow, grow! I’ve even added evergreen wisteria to climb up and across a 20′ section of patio, which should give us a fragrant & beautiful floral archway to photograph in. I can’t wait to see how this fills in and out over the summer!
The Moonlight Garden (filled exclusively with white flowering plants, silvery foliage, and soft green accents) has been started is a celebration of subtle elegance and beauty. The goal is to have this large lush corner, complete with a white picket fence, will create a luminous, ethereal effect that feels both peaceful and magical. With fragrant blossoms, delicate textures, and a calming palette, this space is meant for quiet moments, reflection, and connecting with nature in its most gentle form.
Ft Worth Photographers with a Studio & Garden
Having a custom-built photography studio on our property has been an absolute game-changer. Not just for me as an artist, but for the incredible clients I get to photograph here. This space was designed with intention, filled with natural light, curated sets, & the perfect atmosphere to create timeless, artful portraits. Plus with the addition of the gardens, it provides outdoor spaces to photograph in as well.
Additional garden spaces going in over the next year or so:
Raised Bed Garden (has been started) – a vibrant, joy-filled space with rows of seasonal blooms, designed not just for beauty, but for giving cut flowers.
Wildflower Garden (prepping for in fall) – a free-spirited haven, thoughtfully planted in rows of native Texas florals that bloom in a natural, painterly palette, plus a modern wooden swing set & hammock.
Shades of Pink Garden – dedicated to tonal harmony, as a romantic, serene space with hues of pink; making the entire space feel like a living watercolor painting.
Fruit Orchard – a charming, productive corner where in spring, is filled with fragrant blossoms and by summer and fall, branches hang heavy with ripe, colorful fruit ready to be picked and shared.
Alley of Grace -a graceful mix of formality and movement with ornamental grasses, cultivated florals & structured tree line.
